Privacy Policy

resios is operated from Canada and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25), and other applicable Canadian privacy laws. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have.

Who we are

resios provides software for residential real estate teams, developers, and consumers across Canada. In this policy, "resios", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the resios entity that contracts with you or that operates the website you are visiting. Our privacy officer can be reached at privacy@resios.com for any question relating to this policy or the handling of your personal information.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, such as your name, email address, phone number, organization, role, and the content of any messages, demo requests, public registration forms, project inquiries, survey answers, or support inquiries you send. When you use the platform we also collect account credentials, profile preferences, listings, leads, communications, and documents you upload. We collect information automatically through your use of the service, including IP address, device and browser information, language, time zone, log data, pages visited, referring URLs, and similar telemetry. With your consent, we may also collect approximate location, marketing engagement data, and information from cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy.

How we use information

We use personal information to create and maintain your account, deliver and improve our services, respond to inquiries, route public form submissions to the relevant project team, personalize your experience, process transactions, provide customer support, secure the platform, prevent fraud and abuse, comply with legal obligations, and communicate with you about your account, service updates, and (where permitted) marketing. Survey answers submitted through public project forms may be linked to your contact profile so the project team can follow up and understand demand, preferences, and project planning signals. We rely on the performance of our contract with you, our legitimate business interests, your consent, and applicable legal obligations as the bases for these activities under PIPEDA and equivalent provincial laws.

How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with: (a) service providers and processors that help us operate the platform (such as cloud hosting, email, analytics, payment processing, customer support, and communications providers), under contracts that require appropriate safeguards; (b) members of your organization or transaction (for example, agents, brokerages, developers, buyers, or co-listed parties) where the service is designed to facilitate that exchange; (c) professional advisors, auditors, and insurers; (d) parties to a corporate transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or financing; and (e) authorities or other parties where disclosure is required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and property.

International transfers

Personal information collected by resios may be stored or processed in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. When personal information is transferred outside the province in which it was collected, it remains subject to this policy and applicable contractual safeguards, and may also be accessible to courts, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities in those jurisdictions in accordance with their laws.

Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide the service, meet our legal, accounting, or reporting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods vary based on the nature of the information, the relevant legal requirements, and the operational needs of the service. When personal information is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize it.

Security

We use technical, organizational, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. These safeguards include encryption in transit, access controls, audit logging, environment segregation, secure backups, vendor due diligence, and security training for personnel. No system can be guaranteed to be fully secure, and you are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.

Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, update, or request the deletion of personal information we hold about you, to withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing, to request a copy of your information in a portable format, and to object to or restrict certain processing activities. Residents of Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, and other jurisdictions with sector-specific privacy laws may have additional rights, including the right to data portability and the right to be informed about automated decision-making. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@resios.com. We will respond within the timelines required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

Marketing communications

Where required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), we will obtain your express or implied consent before sending commercial electronic messages, identify the sender, and provide a working unsubscribe mechanism in every message. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our messages or by contacting us directly. Transactional and account-related messages necessary to operate the service are not subject to opt-out.

Children

The resios platform is intended for business users and adult consumers. It is not directed to children under the age of majority in their jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice through the service or by email. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of an updated policy constitutes acceptance of the changes, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Contact and complaints

Questions, concerns, or complaints about our handling of personal information can be sent to our privacy officer at privacy@resios.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or with the privacy regulator in your province, including the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
